The category where PCS draws its hardest line: the high-consequence liner systems are install-only, because a relining job is a fire-safety system, not a box you fit on a Saturday. Alloy is the whole conversation — 316Ti for wood and high heat, 304 where the fuel allows. We supply the firebox repair components and accessory hardware, size every liner to the appliance listing, and install to UL 1777.

Cast-In-Place Liner Restoration (GoldenFlue / Supaflu-Style)

The most permanent thing we do to a chimney, and priced accordingly. A cementitious liner cast in place rebuilds a deteriorated flue as one continuous, insulated, structurally bonded surface — and it reinforces the chimney while it's at it. On maintenance terms it's close to a terminal solution: sweeping gets easier and the annual inspection gets shorter. The catch is that it's irreversible, so where a stainless liner would genuinely serve, we'll steer you there instead.

Stainless Steel Flexible Liner Kit — Full (316Ti / 304)

A full relining system — liner, insulation, top plate, cap, tee, clamps — supplied as one assembly because that's the only way it's legitimate. The decision that determines how long it lasts is alloy, not brand: 316Ti for fuels that make acidic condensate, 304 where they don't. Fitting 304 on the wrong appliance saves money now and costs a full reline later. We size it to the appliance, and once it's in, it drops into normal annual sweeping.

Liner Insulation Blanket Wrap Kit (¼" / ½", UL 1777)

Insulation isn't an extra on a liner — it's what keeps flue gases warm enough not to condense on the way up, and condensation is what turns a clean flue into a creosote problem. On a maintenance plan an insulated liner is quietly cheaper to own: it runs hotter, it stays cleaner, and the annual sweep is faster. We quote it as standard rather than as an option, because the uninsulated version is the one we end up servicing more often.

Refractory Firebox Panel Set (Prefab / Masonry Replacement)

Cracked panels in a factory-built firebox are the item we most often find and homeowners most often haven't noticed. They're matched to your exact make and model, not approximated, because the firebox is a tested assembly and a wrong panel isn't a repair. This is a replace-when-found item rather than a scheduled one. And when the correct panel is discontinued, the truthful answer is that the firebox has reached end of life — we'd rather say that than force something to fit.

Cast-Iron Throat Damper Assembly (Poker / Rotary Control)

Cast-iron plate and frame at the throat, replacing one that's rusted or no longer seats. Straightforward part with a long life once it's in, and it goes on the annual operation check. Where we'll redirect you: if you're replacing it because the fireplace is losing heat when it's not in use, this won't fix that — a throat damper controls the fire, it doesn't seal the house. The top-sealing damper is the one that stops that bill.

Liner Connection & Termination Hardware (Tee, Top Plate, Connector)

Tee, top plate, connector and clamps — the joints that hold a relining system together. They're covered by the same listing as the liner, which is why we don't mix and match to save a few dollars. In service they're the parts that take thermal movement year after year, so they're on the annual look-list even though nobody thinks about them. Unremarkable hardware, and the place a liner fails when it's done cheaply.

Smoke Guard / Adjustable Fireplace Hood

The cheap fix for a fireplace that smokes because it was built with the wrong proportions — the opening is too big for the flue behind it. A steel band lowers the opening and restores the ratio. It's reversible, it's inexpensive, and it needs nothing from you afterwards. It's also visible, and some homeowners find it ugly enough to prefer the smoke; we'd rather you see one first. It does nothing for a blocked or short flue.

Firebrick / Refractory Split-Brick Set

Rated firebrick for a masonry firebox, laid in refractory mortar — ordinary brick and ordinary mortar don't survive there and turn into next year's repair. Sold to the repair scope your inspection actually found. The judgement call we'll put in writing: patching a firebox where only a small area has failed is a repair, and patching one where the whole floor is going is a deferral. You should know which one you're buying before you buy it.

Cast-Iron Fireback

One of the few things you can put in a firebox that reduces future work. It shields the back wall — the surface that takes the most heat and cracks first — while reflecting warmth back into the room. Effectively zero maintenance for decades. The one rule: it goes in front of sound masonry, never over damage. A fireback set against an already-cracked wall just means nobody sees the crack until it's much worse.

Chimney Cleanout / Ash-Pit Door (Steel / Cast-Iron, Framed)

Small part, and it does more work than its price suggests. A properly framed and gasketed cleanout makes clearing the ash pit a five-minute job instead of a mess, and — the part people miss — a door that doesn't seal is an air leak straight into the flue, which pulls at your draft and lets ash out where you don't want it. We replace the frame with the door; a good door in a corroded frame seals nothing.
